Peyton is 7-2 against St. Mary since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pirates at 4:00 p.m. Peyton will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
It was a proper cat-fight when Peyton took on Burlington on Saturday. The Panthers blew past the Cougars 10-3. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.
Zayden Ebbert made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Ebbert was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Peyton got a big performance out of Bryce Love, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Brennan Christiansen was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 17 runs the game before, St. Mary's was a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They came up short against Kent Denver, falling 16-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Pirates in their meetings with the Sun Devils: they've now lost three in a row.
St. Mary's saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Simon Clune, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Isaac Velazquez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Peyton's win bumped their record up to 11-4. As for St. Mary's, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Peyton has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like St. Mary's struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Peyton's way against St. Mary's when the teams last played back in April of 2025, as Peyton made off with a 10-2 victory. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
