The Tipton Blue Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Eastern Comets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tipton is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Tipton never let their opponents score. They blew past Blackford, posting a 35-0 victory at home. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Tipton's zero-point performance the match before.
Tipton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dallas Capshaw, who threw for 105 yards and two touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Tipton also got a significant boost from Calvin Condict, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 102 yards.
Meanwhile, Eastern can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Elwood 55-0 at home. The victory was nothing new for Eastern as they're now sitting on five straight.
Eastern's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayden Eagle led the charge by rushing for 232 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 14.5 yards per carry. Eagle is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played. Braylen Word was another key contributor, picking up 164 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
Tipton's victory pushed their record up to 2-8, while Eastern's bumped their own up to the opposite: 8-2.
Tipton won a match that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in October of 2022, slipping by Eastern 21-20. Will Tipton repeat their success, or does Eastern have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
