Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school football. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2023 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Jason Brown Jr. of
O'Dea (Seattle) is the 2023 MaxPreps Washington High School Football Player of the Year. The 5-foot-10, 205-pound senior running back led the Fighting Irish to an 11-1 record and Class 3A state semifinal appearance.
For the season, Brown went over 2,300 total yards and 37 touchdowns – including 1,958 on the ground. He averaged 12.8 yards per carry.

Regarded as a top 247 prospect in the Class of 2024 by
247Sports, Brown committed to Arizona State earlier this month.
