Declo has won four straight games at home, while Malad has won four straight on the road dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Saturday. The Hornets will welcome the Dragons at 11:00 a.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Declo took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Wendell, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Hornets came out on top in a nail-biter against the Trojans on Wednesday, sneaking past 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hornets have posted since April 5th.

Makendrie Harris made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Kymbree Koyle was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Malad got themselves on the board against Wendell on Friday, but Wendell never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 16-0 win. Considering the Dragons have won 15 contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Declo, Malad also got a great game from a two-way player: Liddia Gonzalez. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 16 over six innings pitched. Gonzalez was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Bostyn Combs was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Teagan Daniels was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Malad hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in nine consecutive games.
Malad is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Declo, their win bumped their record up to 8-9.
Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Declo hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like Malad struggles in that department as they've averaged .441. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Declo might still be hurting after the 10-3 defeat they got from Malad in their previous meeting on April 2nd. Will the Hornets have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
