Triad is 1-9 against Fairbanks since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Triad Cardinals will look to defend their home court against the Fairbanks Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Triad will be strutting in after a win while Fairbanks will be coming in after a defeat.
Triad posted their biggest victory yet this season on Saturday. They breezed by Northeastern at home to the tune of 49-14. The win was just what Triad needed coming off of a 76-43 loss in their prior match.
Triad's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emma Ferguson led the charge by scoring 20 points along with two steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Ferguson has scored at least a third of Triad's points. Another player making a difference was Mia LeMay, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and five blocks.
Fairbanks suffered their biggest loss since December 9, 2023 on Saturday. They had to suffer through a rough 55-26 loss at the hands of Mechanicsburg. Fairbanks was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 29-9.
The losing side was boosted by Riley DaRe, who scored six points. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Poling, who scored three points.
Triad's win ended a nine-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-10. As for Fairbanks, they bumped their record down to 4-13 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Triad was dealt a bruising 47-17 loss at the hands of Fairbanks when the teams last played back in December of 2023. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Triad was down 27-5.
