For the first time this season, Academy of the New Church will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will challenge Germantown Friends at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Academy of the New Church is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.

Things were looking good for Academy of the New Church after they put the first runs on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell 7-4 to Lawrenceville School. The defeat continues a trend for the Lions in their meetings with the Big Red: they've now lost three in a row.

Academy of the New Church saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jamie Madara, who scored two runs and stole six bases while going 3-for-4. Naomi Synnestvedt also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Germantown Friends was not able to break out of their rough patch last Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 12-2 to Columbiana.

Having lost for the first time this season, Academy of the New Church fell to 4-1. As for Germantown Friends, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Academy of the New Church beat Germantown Friends 5-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
