Softball Recap: Chavez Wins Going Away Against Franklin

Chavez won the last time they faced Franklin and things went their way on Monday too. The Titans blew past the Yellowjackets 16-3. The Titans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.

Natalia Dias made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kimora Bell was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Wendy Ibarra, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Chavez kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

The victory got Chavez back to even at 13-13. As for Franklin, their loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-14.

Coming up, Chavez will welcome Stagg at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Titans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Delta Kings have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season. As for Franklin, they will venture away from home to take on Edison at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season.
