Basketball Recap: Spanish Fork Takes a Loss

The Spanish Fork Dons were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 63-57 to the Richfield Wildcats.

Loss or not, Spanish Fork got some senior leadership from Austin Olsen and Gage Christensen. Olsen went 6-for-11 en route to 13 points and five rebounds, while Christensen shot 44% from the field to rack up 19 points. Olsen is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 55% in the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Kade Leatherwood was another key player, putting up eight points.

Spanish Fork's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Spanish Fork and Crimson Cliffs will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played. As for Richfield, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Cedar at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
