On Saturday, in a tight game that could have gone either way, Payson made off with a 29-28 win over St. Michael.
Payson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lizzy White led the charge by scoring eight points along with 21 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Hannah Sarnowski, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Payson will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Show Low at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th. St. Michael will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Grand Canyon at 5:30 p.m. on January 4th.
