After five games on the road, East River is heading back home. They will take on the Altamonte Christian Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. East River has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-1 during that stretch of close contests.
Back in December of 2023, East River escaped with a win against North Miami by the margin of a single free throw, 48-47. Given East River's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while North Miami is ranked 328th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead East River to victory, but perhaps none more so than Yariana Lugo Perez, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Lugo Perez has scored at least a third of East River's points. Another player making a difference was Bailey Carter, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Altamonte Christian stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Lake Mary Prep 57-20 on the road. The win was just what Altamonte Christian needed coming off of a 49-26 defeat in their prior game.
East River's win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Altamonte Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.
