Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Weiser Wolverines walked away with it. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Kimberly on Friday and snuck past 35-32. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Weiser was led to victory by Kaleb Grove and Jayden Walker. Grove rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns, while Walker rushed for 155 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries. Walker really tore up the turf during one magnificent 75-yard run. Brock Spencer was in the mix too, providing Weiser with two touchdowns.
The win (which was Weiser's fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 Parma and 2-8 Fruitland (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 33.3% over those games). As for Kimberly, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-1.
Weiser will face off against Sugar-Salem at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Sugar-Salem will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line. Kimberly does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
