South Beloit has gone a perfect 9-0 against Harvest Christian Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Sobos will face off against the Lions at 4:30 p.m. South Beloit comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
South Beloit came up short against Clinton on Friday, falling 11-1. That's two games in a row now that the Sobos have lost by exactly ten runs.
South Beloit saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Macey Lineman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Harvest Christian Academy). Everything went their way against Walther Christian Academy last Friday as they made off with an 18-4 victory. With that win, the Lions brought their scoring average up to 7.6 runs per game.
Alyssa Burke spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on one hit and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Makayla Richards, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Haley Miller, who went 3-for-5 with four runs, two triples, and two RBI.
Harvest Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Walther Christian Academy only managed four hits.
South Beloit's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Harvest Christian Academy, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
Harvest Christian Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. South Beloit has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Harvest Christian Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will South Beloit keep running through batters, or will the Lions buck the trend?
