Lima Senior has won four straight games at home, while Elida has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Spartans will welcome the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Lima Senior and Perry, and Lima Senior kept the tradition alive. The Spartans blew past the Commodores 13-3 on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Elida made easy work of Ottawa-Glandorf on Tuesday and carried off a 20-2 win. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Lilly Sifrit made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Elida got a massive performance out of Abby Daugherty, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave Daugherty a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Delaney Miller, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Elida was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .516. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .346 or higher in five consecutive games.
Lima Senior is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Elida, their victory bumped their record up to 7-5.
Lima Senior couldn't quite finish off Elida in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 and fell 15-13. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
