Pioneer has gone a perfect 10-0 against North White recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Panthers will head out to take on the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. Pioneer is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.
Pioneer is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Hobart just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Saturday. They lost 19-6 to the Brickies. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Panthers have suffered since April 26th.
Pioneer saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madyson Shaffer, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Another was Lois Layer, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, North White was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They put the hurt on Carroll with a sharp 18-7 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings.
Kaylyn Applegate made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Raelynn Anliker was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Avi Cain was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
North White kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
The victory got North White back to even at 9-9. As for Pioneer, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8.
Everything went Pioneer's way against North White in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Pioneer made off with an 11-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
