Knox is 1-7 against Bremen since May of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Redskins will host the Lions at 4:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Bremen will be up against a hot Knox team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Redskins came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against Glenn.
The team relied heavily on Karleigh Friedrich, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Addison Sponaugle, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Knox was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They are 6-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Bremen came out on top against Jimtown on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Lions sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Jimmies. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.
Chrissy Grabowski was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, Peyton Reed was excellent, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one triple. Isabella Calentine was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Knox pushed their record up to 11-12 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Bremen, their victory bumped their record up to 8-13.
Bremen's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Knox hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. It's a different story for Bremen, though, as they've only averaged .254. Will they be able to contain Knox's hitters?
