Mead took the match and then some with a 70-12 victory on Friday over Omaha Christian Academy.
The contest started off well for Mead, whose offense put up 34 first-half points. Omaha Christian Academy came up with 6 to make it 34-6 heading into the break. The Mead defense stood its ground in the third quarter, giving up 0 and all but finishing the contest.
Sophomore Calvin Muhlbach, who picked up 45 yards on the ground and accumulated 106 passing yards, was a major factor in Mead's success. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse freshman AJ Carritt, who racked up 9 tackles. The win got Mead back to even at 2-2. Omaha Christian Academy are still searching for that first win as they fell to 0-4.
Next week Mead take on Emerson-Hubbard at 7:00 PM. Emerson-Hubbard also lit up the scoreboard in their last matchup, so this could be a high-scoring matchup. Omaha Christian Academy will look to defend their home turf against Clarkson/Leigh at 7:00 PM.
