The Meade County Green Waves came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They really took it to Nelson County for the full four quarters, racking up a 79-51 win on the road. Given Meade County's advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while Nelson County is ranked 164th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meade County was led to victory by Paige Medley and Peyton Bradley. Medley scored 20 points along with two steals, while Bradley scored 23 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. Bradley hasn't dropped below 15points for eight straight games. Another player making a difference was Jaycelyn Nevitt, who scored nine points.
Meade County's win bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Nelson County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Meade County will square off against Breckinridge County at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Breckinridge County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday. As for Nelson County, they will head out on the road to challenge Bardstown at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Bardstown and Nelson County are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
