Juniata Valley hasn't had much luck against Mount Union recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Juniata Valley is taking a road trip to take on Mount Union at 4:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Juniata Valley proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by eight) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Glendale 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hornets have posted since April 25, 2024.

Braelyn Hall was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-5.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bethany Devore, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three RBI. Kelsey Ersek was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Mount Union sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over Northern Bedford County on Tuesday. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Like Juniata Valley, Mount Union also got a great game from a two-way player: Ke' Andra Wible. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Wible was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Wible wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Callie Trego, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Juniata Valley now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Mount Union, their record now sits at 1-0.
Juniata Valley might still be hurting after the 20-3 defeat they got from Mount Union in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Juniata Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
