After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Los Angeles, the West Adams Panthers were happy to have found some success on Wednesday. They walked away with a 52-44 victory over Santee. That's another feather in the cap for West Adams, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Among those leading the charge was Justin Cortez, who scored 13 points along with nine steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Cesar Santiago was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, Santee still got an impressive performance from Darnell Miller, who scored 17 points. That was a full 38.6% of Santee's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Martin Alvarez, who scored eight points.
West Adams pushed their record up to 9-11 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.7 points per game. As for Santee, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-8.
West Adams will head out on the road to face off against Dr. Maya Angelou Community at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Dr. Maya Angelou Community is ranked 1117th, while West Adams is ranked 1109th). As for Santee, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Manual Arts at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
