Basketball Recap: Reid Johannes' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Porter Ridge over Marvin Ridge

Porter Ridge was the 50-43 winner over Marvin Ridge when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Porter Ridge Pirates lost to the Marvin Ridge Mavericks at home by a 67-50 margin on Tuesday.

Porter Ridge lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Reid Johannes, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds. The match was Johannes' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Jacob Conroy was another key player, putting up eight points.

Henry Smith continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Marvin Ridge, dropping a double-double on 24 points and ten boards. Those 24 points gave Smith a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brady Dunn, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 15 points and five assists.

Porter Ridge has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Marvin Ridge, their record is now 5-10.

Porter Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 70-57 defeat against Monroe on the 8th. Marvin Ridge has also already played their next matchup, a 64-57 win against Charlotte Catholic on the 17th.
