After a string of three wins, the Dunellen Destroyers's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They lost to Metuchen on the road by a decisive 61-46 margin. Dunellen has not had much luck with Metuchen recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Dunellen lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jamael Davis, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Vibert Reynolds, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Metuchen's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ben Santus led the charge by scoring 19 points. Cameron Hayes-durina was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with two steals.
Dunellen's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-7. As for Metuchen, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dunellen's road trip will continue as they head out to face Piscataway Vo-Tech at 5:30 p.m. on January 17th. As for Metuchen, they will face off against South River at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully South River focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Saturday.
