The Yerington Lions waltzed into their contest on Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They snuck past North Tahoe with a 62-56 victory. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Yerington was led to victory by Colby Rowe and Noah Thom. Rowe scored 20 points along with six rebounds and five steals, while Thom dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. Rowe hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kp Picotte jr, who scored eight points along with five steals.
When it comes to explaining why North Tahoe lost, one person who can't be blamed is Gavin Green. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points. Cormac Springsteel was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Yerington's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-8. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for North Tahoe, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11.
Coincidentally, Yerington and the Lakers will both be playing the Mustangs the next time they take the court. Yerington will head out to face the Mustangs at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Lakers will host them at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
