Horizon Science Academy will head out on the road to face off against the Lawrence Upper Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Horizon Science Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Thursday.
Last Thursday, Horizon Science Academy beat the Knights 46-35. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Horizon Science Academy has managed all season.
Horizon Science Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Richard McCoy, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. It was the first time this season that McCoy pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylon Myrick, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Lawrence Upper's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 72-43 defeat at the hands of Medina Christian Academy.
Despite their loss, Lawrence Upper saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Dominic Bell, who scored ten points, was perhaps the best of all. Guy Caster was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Horizon Science Academy's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Lawrence Upper, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.
Horizon Science Academy took their win against the Lions in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 74-54. The rematch might be a little tougher for Horizon Science Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
