Basketball Game Preview: Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles vs. Cathedral Fighting Irish

Guerin Catholic hasn't had much luck against Cathedral recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cathedral Fighting Irish at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Saturday, Guerin Catholic came up short against Covenant Christian and fell 69-61.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Ava Bills, who went 8 for 18 on her way to 18 points and three steals. Her afternoon made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Annie Murphy, who posted 17 points and five assists.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cathedral). Everything went their way against Zionsville on Tuesday as Cathedral made off with a 61-41 win.

Guerin Catholic better keep an eye on Jaeda Wilson. She was instrumental in Cathedral's win, going 6 of 12 on her way to 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Beasley, who had eight points.

Guerin Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Cathedral, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.

Thursday's match will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Bills and Wilson. Bills has been dynamite this season: she has averaged 17.9 points, 2.9 steals, and 5.5 boards. For her part, Wilson has averaged 12.3 points, 1.4 steals, and 4 boards.
