The Kit Carson Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 51-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Granada. Kit Carson has struggled against Granada recently, as their matchup on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Kit Carson's loss came despite strong showings from Josiah Irwin and O'Shea Farmer. Irwin dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds, while Farmer scored 15 points along with three steals. That's the first time this season that Farmer scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Brennan Framel, who scored six points along with 12 rebounds and seven assists.
Kit Carson's defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-7. As for Granada, their victory bumped their record up to 3-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kit Carson won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Springfield at 12:00 p.m. on January 20th. Hopefully Springfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 last Monday. As for Granada, they will head out on the road to take on McClave at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. McClave presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Granada in Colorado (McClave is ranked 65th, while Granada is ranked 271st).
