Basketball Recap: King's Academy Piles Up the Points Against Berean Christian

King's Academy posted their biggest victory since January 19, 2024 on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Berean Christian Bulldogs 68-33. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 186th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 621st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead King's Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Honour Mays, who went 6 of 7 from beyond the arc on his way to 18 points. Those 18 points gave Mays a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah McCoy, who posted eight points along with 12 rebounds and four blocks.

King's Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Berean Christian only racked up six assists.

Despite the loss, Berean Christian still got an impressive performance from Derek Vasquez, who put up 18 points and eight boards. That was a full 54.5% of Berean Christian's points, marking the third time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Matthew Wall, who scored eight points.

King's Academy pushed their record up to 14-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.6 points per game. As for Berean Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-13.

King's Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 67-60 defeat against Centennial on the 31st. As for Berean Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 59-46 loss against Trinity Christian Academy on the 31st.
