Roosevelt is 0-7 against Thompson Valley since May of 2021 but things could change on Saturday. The Roughriders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 11:00 a.m. Roosevelt is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.
Roosevelt barely beat Berthoud the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Roughriders were the clear victors by a 16-4 margin over the Spartans on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Roughriders considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Brady Mylander made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Mylander was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
In other pitching news, Wyatt McNerney looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

Back at the plate, Kayden Bryant and Luke Unruh did most of the damage at the plate: Bryant got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Unruh went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Unruh a new career-high. Mason Sauer was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, while it was Thompson Valley who put the first runs on the board on Wednesday, it was Loveland who put up more. The Eagles fell just short of the Red Wolves by a score of 4-3. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Red Wolves recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Like Roosevelt, Thompson Valley also got a great game from a two-way player: Evan Raabe. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. Raabe also tossed a walk, which is notable because Thompson Valley is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-8 otherwise. Raabe was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, Sam Engelland made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.
The win made it two in a row for Roosevelt and bumps their season record up to 11-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Thompson Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.
Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Roosevelt hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .365. However, it's not like Thompson Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .337. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Roosevelt couldn't quite finish off Thompson Valley in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 10-8. Can the Roughriders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
