Upland is 0-10 against Damien since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Upland Highlanders/Scots will be playing at home against the Damien Spartans at 6:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Upland suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They fell just short of Rancho Cucamonga by a score of 60-57. Upland has struggled against Rancho Cucamonga recently, as their match on Thursday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Damien was able to grind out a solid victory over Lynwood on Saturday, taking the game 75-66. Given Damien's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while Lynwood is ranked 84th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Upland's defeat dropped their record down to 16-6. As for Damien, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.
Upland was taken down by Damien 81-34 when the teams last played on January 5th. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Upland was down 46-11.
