The Fike Demons had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They took down C.B. Aycock 48-33. Given Fike's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while C.B. Aycock is ranked 371st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jewel Brewington was her usual excellent self, scoring 22 points. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalia Daniels, who scored six points.
Fike's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.1 points per game. As for C.B. Aycock, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.
Fike will look to defend their home court on Friday against Southern Wayne at 6:00 p.m. As for C.B. Aycock, they will head out on the road to face off against Smithfield-Selma at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
