After a string of six wins, the Monroe Golden Tornadoes's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 76-65 to Carver. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Tuesday (61), Monroe still had to take the loss.
Several Golden Tornadoes players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kie'Aundria Acree, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 11 rebounds. Acree is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Ciarra Lunsford was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds.
Monroe's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-7. As for Carver, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
Monroe will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Columbus at 6:00 p.m. Columbus is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Carver, they will head out on the road to square off against Dougherty at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Dougherty focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday.
