Enka has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge The Asheville Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Enka will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 320th, while Asheville is ranked 137th).
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 42-10, which was the final score in Enka's tilt against North Henderson on Thursday. Enka was down 42-3 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Asheville fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They blew past North Buncombe, posting a 59-12 win on the road.
Josh Ellis and Kyheem Plummer were among the main playmakers for Asheville as the former rushed for 66 yards and two touchdowns and the latter rushed for 98 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. Plummer really tore up the turf during one magnificent 79-yard run. Kareem Williams made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
North Henderson's win bumped their season record to 7-2 while Enka's defeat dropped theirs to 3-6.
Enka was taken down by Asheville 34-0 when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Can Enka avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
