Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Marshall Owls, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a serious blow against Jefferson City on Friday, falling 49-3.
Jefferson City was led to victory by Bradarious Lewis and Kantrell Jordan. Lewis rushed for 168 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries, while Jordan rushed for 188 yards and four touchdowns on only five carries. Jordan's longest rush was for an incredible 87 yards.
Marshall's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Jefferson City, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Marshall does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Jefferson City will square off against Pleasant Hill at TBD on Friday. Pleasant Hill is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
