Even though the Franklin Road Academy Panthers have not done well against the Middle Tennessee Christian Cougars recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Franklin Road Academy pulled ahead with a 37-36 photo finish over Middle Tennessee Christian. The win was familiar territory for Franklin Road Academy who now have five in a row.
Middle Tennessee Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Madison Graham, who scored 15 points. Graham has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times she's played. Riley Smith was another key contributor, scoring two points along with three steals.
Franklin Road Academy pushed their record up to 12-4 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.4 points per game. As for Middle Tennessee Christian, they now have a losing record at 10-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Franklin Road Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Columbia Academy at 1:00 p.m. on January 27th. Hopefully Columbia Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Tuesday. As for Middle Tennessee Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Grace Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
