After a string of six wins, the Owensboro Catholic Aces's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 60-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Owensboro. Owensboro Catholic was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Owensboro apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.
Owensboro Catholic's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jenna Krampe, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds. Aubrey Randolph was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
It was another big night for Shalyn Sprinkles, who shot 4-for-9 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 25 points and 13 rebounds for Owensboro. That's the first time this season that Sprinkles pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Alyrica Hughes, who scored six points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Owensboro Catholic's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-3. As for Owensboro, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
