The Panther Valley Panthers waltzed into their contest Monday with three straight wins but they left with four. They managed a 49-43 victory over Pine Grove. Given Panther Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 286th, while Pine Grove is ranked 611th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Panther Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chase Weaver, who scored 11 points. The game was Weaver's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Logan Fisher was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds.
Panther Valley's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Pine Grove, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Panther Valley will face off against Blue Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Blue Mountain has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Pine Grove, they will head out on the road to face off against North Schuylkill at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
