The Central Catholic Rams will square off against the Canby Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Central Catholic's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Canby's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Tuesday, Central Catholic came up short against Westview and fell 7-2.
Meanwhile, Canby got themselves on the board against Lebanon on Tuesday, but Lebanon never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the Warriors. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won three games by nine runs or more so far this season.
Jack Brauckmiller made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Brauckmiller was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Anthony Furduy looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Canby is 2-0-1 when Furduy allows one or fewer hits, but 1-2 otherwise.
Back at the plate, Blake Miller was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with four RBI. Another player making a difference was Payton Burke, who went 1-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Canby now has a winning record of 3-2-1. As for Central Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.
Canby's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Central Catholic hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. It's a different story for Canby, though, as they've only averaged .229. Will they be able to contain Central Catholic's hitters?
