Adding to the longest winning streak in WPIAL A Eastern this week, North Catholic beat Avonworth 14-7. The victory was the 11th in a row for the Trojans.
Apollo Ridge fell to Sto-Rox 42-20 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jesse Zelonka was a bright spot for the Vikings, as he threw for 147 yards and 3 touchdowns and ran for 37 yards in the loss.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Apollo Ridge's Zelonka and Tre Tipton have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-0 quarterback Zelonka has thrown for 1,613 yards this season, while Tipton has 44 catches for 697 yards. Keir Barber from Riverview leads the league in rushing with 867 yards.
North Catholic made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 781 from 1,071. The improvement was largely due to a 14-7 victory over the Antelopes last week.
