Basketball Game Preview: Maywood/Hayes Center Wolves vs. Sandhills/Thedford Knights

The Maywood/Hayes Center Wolves will face off against the Sandhills/Thedford Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both have allowed few points on average, (Maywood/Hayes Center: 27.4, Sandhills/Thedford: 28.8) so any points scored will be well earned.

Last Tuesday, Maywood/Hayes Center really took it to Maxwell for the full four quarters, racking up a 72-32 win. The Wolves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 25 points or more this season.

Maywood/Hayes Center's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Blayklee Farr, who went 8 of 12 en route to 22 points. Those 22 points gave Farr a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Caylie Softley, who went 7 for 13 on her way to 17 points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Maywood/Hayes Center was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Maxwell only racked up six assists.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Sandhills/Thedford beat Anselmo-Merna 43-38 on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.

Sandhills/Thedford's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.3 points per game. As for Maywood/Hayes Center, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season.

Maywood/Hayes Center was able to grind out a solid win over Sandhills/Thedford when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 43-35. Does Maywood/Hayes Center have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sandhills/Thedford turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
