Greencastle is 7-1 against Monrovia since February of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Greencastle Tiger Cubs will be playing at home against the Monrovia Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Greencastle unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak last Friday. They took a 59-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Putnam.
Despite the defeat, Greencastle had strong showings from Alexandra Dobbs, who scored 18 points along with three steals, and Bailey Brown, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Dobbs hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Madi Plew was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Meanwhile, Monrovia also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to South Putnam by a score of 58-51.
Monrovia's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Emery Newlin, who scored 22 points along with seven steals and six rebounds, and Mary Cox who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Newlin has scored all season.
Greencastle's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-12. As for Monrovia, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Greencastle have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 28 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Monrovia, though, as they've been averaging only 31.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything went Greencastle's way against Monrovia in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as Greencastle made off with a 64-38 win. Does Greencastle have another victory up their sleeve, or will Monrovia turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
