Kennebunk's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against South Portland as they made off with a 12-0 victory.
Juliann Pike was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Talia Kellum was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Emma Orendorf, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Kennebunk hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive contests.
Cheverus came out on top against Massabesic on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run second inning. The Stags were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Mustangs. The Stags have beaten the Mustangs the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Mustangs has come to flipping the script.
Like Kennebunk, Cheverus also got a great game from a two-way player: Addison DeRoche. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 15 over five innings pitched. DeRoche was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hailey Lamontagne, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Kennebunk is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Cheverus, their win bumped their record up to 9-0.
