Baseball Recap: St. John Lutheran Wins Going Away Against Wildwood

St. John Lutheran's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 9-1 margin over the Wildwood Wildcats. The result was nothing new for the Saints, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

Adam Stillwell made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.

In other batting news, Luis Roman was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. St. John Lutheran is undefeated when Roman posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise. Cooper Gloege was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Five bases. while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

St. John Lutheran lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

St. John Lutheran has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. Wildwood's defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, St. John Lutheran and Halifax Academy will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field one another at 6:00 p.m. on March 25th. St. John Lutheran is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.3 runs per game this season. As for Wildwood, they will be playing at home against Cedar Key at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
