Basketball Recap: Banff Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Vinnie Chu and Issac Sumpter

Banff lost against Humble Christian back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Banff Bears came up short against the Humble Christian Cougars, falling 61-37. The Bears just can't catch a break and have now endured seven losses in a row.

Banff's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Issac Sumpter, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards, and Vinnie Chu, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. Sumpter is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last four games he's played.

Even though they lost, Banff smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 17 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Banff's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Humble Christian, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-7 record.

Banff has already played their next game, a 77-71 defeat against Shady Acres Christian on the 30th. As for Humble Christian, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Humble Christian Cougars challenge the School of the Woods Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on February 11th.
