Michael Cagiano was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Northwest Cabarrus is 3-1 when Cagiano allows one or fewer hits, but 3-8 otherwise. Cagiano was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ben Able, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Northwest Cabarrus' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-2 (and 1-7 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Kingston Clowney, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

As for Cox Mill, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-5 record this season. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.
On Cox Mill's side, they got a good showing from Jacob McCarter, who struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). McCarter has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
