Eldred and Tri-Valley are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2022, but likely not for long. The Yellowjackets will challenge the Bears at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Tri-Valley took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Eldred, who comes in off a win.
Having struggled with eight defeats in a row, Eldred turned things around against Rockland Central on Monday. They came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 9-4. The Yellowjackets' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Evan Zgrodek was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Mason Tice was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Jacob Tice was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Tri-Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 11-0 to Chapel Field Christian.
Tri-Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Eldred, their record is now 2-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Eldred has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Tri-Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Eldred couldn't quite get it done against Tri-Valley in their previous meeting back in April as they fell 6-2. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
