Avon Grove has gone 7-2 against Sun Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Red Devils will take on the Vanguards at 4:00 p.m. Sun Valley took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Avon Grove, who comes in off a win.
Avon Grove is headed into the contest having just posted their closest win since May 13, 2024 on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over Unionville. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Red Devils.

Avon Grove got a great performance from Devin Rinker as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave Rinker a new career-high.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Reid Mamula, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Brendon Baiocco also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Sun Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Oxford. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Vanguards have suffered since May 8, 2024.
Jackson Messick put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Messick wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jaden Comisiak, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another was Logan Howe, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Avon Grove's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Sun Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.
Sun Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Avon Grove has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .457. It's a different story for Sun Valley, though, as they've only averaged .244. Will they be able to contain Avon Grove's hitters?
Everything went Avon Grove's way against Sun Valley in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Avon Grove made off with a 6-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
