Gage Wall made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Wall was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.
In other batting news, Dawson Davidson and Briar Wall did most of the damage at the plate: Davidson went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Briar went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Wall has posted since back in April. Jack Gallagher was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Seneca kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Viroqua was able to grind out a solid victory over West Salem on Thursday, taking the game 6-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blackhawks.
Seneca's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Viroqua, their record now sits at 8-5.
Seneca came out on top in a nail-biter against Viroqua in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 7-5. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Blackhawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
