The Westlake Chaparrals extended their postseason success on Friday against the Reagan Rattlers. They took down the Rattlers 45-28. Westlake's win was all the more impressive since Reagan was averaging only 14.92 points allowed on the season.
Westlake can attribute much of their success to Jack Kayser, who rushed for 154 yards and three touchdowns. Kayser is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rees Wise, who threw for 217 yards and a touchdown on only 19 passes.
When it comes to explaining why Reagan lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brad Jackson. Despite the final result, he threw for 248 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Jackson hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Caleb Cappuccio, who picked up 122 receiving yards and a touchdown.
The victory for Westlake keeps them at an undefeated 12-0. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 37.25 points. As for Reagan, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-1.
Westlake will be playing in front of their home fans against United at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. United will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. Reagan does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
