The biggest upset of the week belonged to Crowley County, who took down 95th ranked Byers, 24-21. Herman Ross threw for 197 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 36 yards in the win.
Ross and Chase Dean provided fans with a highlight when they connected against the Bulldogs. The longest such play in 1A South Central this season, the connection resulted in 59 yards.
Ryan Imber provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Byers fell to the Chargers. He completed six passes for 115 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 128 yards. Imber's favorite target this week was Dean, who caught two passes for 126 yards.
Chandler Dohe was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 158 yards on 14 carries as Limon lost to Crowley County. Teammate Schafer Thompson added to the ground attack by rushing for 80 yards.
6-foot-0 quarterback Ross of Tyrel Davies's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 678. He has also thrown 11 touchdowns. On the ground, the Bulldogs' Imber has rushed for 618 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Landon Stang. The Limon star has 10 catches for 295 yards.
Two of the top units in 1A South Central will face off this week when the Badgers take on Rocky Ford. Limon's offense has scored 213 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Meloneers have allowed only 198 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Burlington takes on the Chargers. The Cougars are currently in fifth, while Crowley County is in second.
Mike O'Dwyer's team extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Las Animas, 41-7. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
