The Bountiful RedHawks are on the road again on Tuesday to play the Spanish Fork Dons at 3:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Last Friday, Bountiful had just enough and edged Provo out 8-7. The victory was just what Bountiful needed coming off of a 12-2 loss in their prior contest.
Tavis Danner made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). Danner was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Jackson Kyhl and TJ Dahlke did most of the damage at the plate: Kyhl went 1-for-4 with three RBI, a triple, and a run, while Dahlke scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Krew Nelson was another key contributor, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Spanish Fork entered their tilt with Union with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They skirted past the Cougars 7-6. That's two games straight that Spanish Fork has won by just one run.
Jesse Harrison looked comfortable as he tossed an inning while giving up no earned runs or hits (he also didn't allow any walks).
On the hitting side, Spanish Fork's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Will Dart, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Bountiful's record is now 2-5. As for Spanish Fork, they pushed their record up to 4-4 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
