Even though the Rio Americano Raiders scored an imposing 60 points on Saturday, the Laguna Creek Cardinals still came out on top. Laguna Creek pulled ahead with a 61-60 photo finish over Rio Americano.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Laguna Creek to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaylan Virgil, who scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kj Ramey, who scored 11 points along with two steals and two blocks.
Laguna Creek's win bumped their record up to 11-9. As for Rio Americano, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.
Laguna Creek will head out on the road to take on McClatchy at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. McClatchy is on a three-game streak of home losses, Laguna Creek a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. As for Rio Americano, Rio Americano and Sacramento will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Sacramento knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully Rio Americano likes a good challenge.
